The recent Arab Future Cities Summit has accelerated demand for Ooredoo’s latest 5G solutions, which can transform Qatar’s businesses and daily lives.
Advanced ICT infrastructure and 5G mobile networks, with mobile network speeds roughly 10 times faster than the current 4G networks, will provide the technological foundation for a wide range of Future Cities innovations and digital services.
Showing the strong potential, Middle East mobile operators are investing USD 50 billion in advanced network infrastructure to 2021, according to a recent report by Deloitte.
“From autonomous vehicles to connected stadiums, the kinds of Future City digital services will depend on 5G mobile networks to transmit, store, and analyse massive amounts of data in real-time. Since serving as Title Sponsor for the Arab Future Cities Summit, Ooredoo has seen strong demand for the latest Future Cities and Internet of Things innovations. We are continuing to exchange best practices with leading Future Cities experts,” Yousuf Abdulla Al Kubaisi, Chief Operating Officer, Ooredoo Qatar.
Industry experts agree that Ooredoo is at the cutting-edge of developing Future Cities innovations. At the Summit, visitors experienced the latest Ooredoo innovations across Smart Cities, Smart Wi-Fi for connected stadiums and transport, and Smart Irrigation. Ooredoo exhibited with partners Aruba, Honeywell, Identigy, and Schneider Electric.
Additional transformative 5G use cases include connected healthcare with tele-medicine diagnoses, using algorithms to predict emergencies and drones to help coast guards rescue people, 3D match broadcasts, and highly-advanced cybersecurity.
As one of the region’s leading ICT providers, Ooredoo has already provided the Ooredoo Supernet ICT infrastructure for Qatar’s most prominent Future Cities projects, such as the connected airport at Hamad International Airport, connected shopping at Souq Waqif, and the technology infrastructure at the under-development Lusail City.
