Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced plans to launch LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) services offering data download speeds of up to 700Mbps in the next few months, with upload speeds of up to 75Mbps. The firm is working with Qualcomm and Ericsson on the development of 4G, 4.5G and 5G technology. It announced the launch of 500Mbps services over its LTE-A network in December 2016. TIM says it is waiting for the arrival of new devices that will support the 700Mbps service before introducing its new peak speeds over networks in Italy’s main cities.
