Tele2 Latvia has unveiled plans to invest EUR3 million (USD3.2 million) to construct 60 new base stations, whilst a parallel development will see it continue expanding its LTE Advanced (LTE-A) – dubbed ‘4G+’ by the cellco – and tri-band carrier aggregation (3C) LTE-A (referred to as ‘4G++’) networks. Tele2’s 4G platform is currently available to 99% of Latvians, whilst its LTE-A and 3C LTE-A footprints cover 26% of the population and five major cities, respectively.
