Telecom Italia invests in FTTC rollout

Telecom Italia (TIM) has announced that it has invested around EUR 800,000 to roll out a fibre-optic and 4G network in the town of Abbiategrasso in the northern Lombardy region. The FTTC service has already been activated in around 10,000 households after 16.5 kilometres of cable were rolled out to connect 54 street cabinets. Customers in the connected areas can now access the internet at speeds of up to 100 Mbps.

TIM recently revealed that it now expects to bring fibre-optic technology to 95 percent of the Italian population by mid-2018.
