A number of subscribers of Dubai-based telecom operator du will soon be able to surf longer on the Internet or talk on their mobile phone for up to more than an hour for free.
Telecom operator du announced on Thursday that it is giving free data and minutes to its customers in the UAE who were inconvenienced during a six-hour network outage on March 19.
The compensation applies only to post-paid and pre-paid mobile users who are either on consumer/personal or business plans, according to a spokesperson.
UAE residents on post-paid accounts can avail themselves of two gigabytes (GB) of data and 75 national minutes while those on pre-paid accounts can get the same amount of data but 25 national minutes for free.
“As a token of appreciation for your understanding during some of our mobile services degradation, we are offering our post-paid customers 2GB data and 75 national minutes, and our pre-paid customers 2GB data and 25 minutes for free,” the company said on Thursday.
