Bangladesh Public Toilet Apps acknowledged for smart solutions

Bangladeshi mobile application Public Toilet Apps received the World Summit Award (WSA) -2016 in Smart Settlement and Organization category.

The Austria-based organization made the announcement on March 20 WSA awards the mobile applications every year for development initiatives across the world.

Technology research organization Preneur Lab developed the software in association with Access to Information (A2i) programme and development agency WaterAid Bangladesh.

Regarding the achievement ICT State Minister Zunaid Ahemd Palak said, “There have been takern different initiatives to install smart city in the country. WSA recognition for the toilet mapping apps is another father in the crown of success stories of Digital Bangladesh led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina. ICT division always keeps touch with innovative idea generators like Preneur Lab to reach the smart solutions to citizen,”.

The apps developer origination Preneur Lab has been developing different digital services and tech products in leadership of CEO Arif Nezami who is an alumnus of US Department of State and International Visitor Leadership Programme.

Preneur Lab CEO Arif Nezami said, “We are working together with the government to ease the citizen services. WSA recognition will promote our journey to bring new services for the mass. Recently we have started our footprint in the Artificial Intelligence and Virtual Reality,”.

The app enables its user to find out the nearest public toilets in the city. Initially there have been integrated 19 information including – higen facility, women friendly, as well as water support of around 2000 toilets at shopping malls, hospitals, rail stations, masjid, temple as well as the specialized toilet of city corporations.

WSA is an initiative of United Nation’s World Summit Information Society to place the mobile contents across 187 countries to the global space.
