Orange Belgium, in association with the Brussels Intercommunal Transport Company (STIB-MIVB), has confirmed that it has extended its LTE network to all metro lines and stations throughout the Belgian capital. The cellco has deployed 67 ‘network installations’ covering the Brussels metro area, with specific investments to help manage the 80,000MB of mobile data consumed by commuters on a daily basis during peak periods.
Orange claimed 99.9% LTE coverage at end-2016, while its its LTE-Advanced (LTE-A) network reached 54.2% of the Belgian population at year-end. 4G traffic represented more than 80% of total data traffic in 2016, Orange noted.
