Morocco is participating in the Mobile World Congress, which is taking place from February 27 to March 2 in Barcelona, according to an announcement on Monday by Morocco Export, which has organized this 5th participation of the kingdom in this event.
With more than 2,200 exhibitors and 101,000 visitors from 204 countries in the last edition, the Mobile World Congress is the most important event worldwide for the promotion of mobile telephony.
The 2017 edition will be marked by the presence of experts and opinion leaders who have traditionally participated in the congress, giving them the opportunity to discuss new trends and inventions of the mobile industry, in front of an audience of new technologies professionals and enthusiasts, emphasizes the same source.
Seven leading companies in this sector, specializing in the most innovative advanced technologies (integrated mobile devices, green mobile technology, mobile cloud computing, NFC, mobile money, mobile health, mobile applications, and mobile accessories) will be present at this event.
Morocco’s participation in this edition will provide an opportunity to strengthen the positioning of Moroccan companies in the sector at the international level. Facing the challenge of promoting the country as a technological hub and creating Moroccan added value through the transfer of technologies(thanks to the large international companies who wish to settle in the country), the kingdom has encouraged its exhibitors to showcase the quality of their expertise, collaborate with innovators and European prime contractors, and seize the opportunities offered by the expansion of the mobile telephony market and its industry, particularly in mobile applications and mobile payment platforms.
Telecommunications have evolved as a result of profound technological changes and accelerated processes of market liberalization. Thus, sustained technological progress combined with regulatory support measures have encouraged the emergence of new technologies, notably the deployment of several successive generations of telecommunications networks, including 3G and 4G, which are more multimedia- and data-oriented.
Like many other emerging markets around the world, mobile telephony continues to rise in Morocco, boosted by rising competition and declining prices over the last two years. This event represents a real opportunity for innovative Moroccan companies to showcase their innovations and present them to future foreign partners, as well as measure their competitors, evaluate their market and above all make some business.
More than 287 contacts were made by Moroccan companies during the 2016 edition from France, Côte d’Ivoire, Mauritania, Gabon, Cameroon, Turkey, Iran, Palestine, Madagascar, United States, United Arab Emirates, as well as 25 quotation commandes and 5 sample requests.
The presence of Moroccan operators at such events is a necessary step for the development of the activity, prospecting customers and developing partnerships, according to Morocco Export, which added that this trade show allows for competition in the Global Telecom market.
Several actions related to the ICT sector have been planned through Morocco Export for the year 2017: Salon Gitex in Dubai, BtoB in Burkina Faso, Algeria, Saudi Arabia, United States, India, Ivory Coast, and multisectoral fairs in sub-Saharan Africa.
