Altitude Infrastructure has been chosen to upgrade the fixed wireless network in several municipalities of Southern France, as part of the Digital Haute-Garonne public-initiative infrastructure project (‘Haute-Garonne Numerique’). The network upgrade will see the deployment of LTE services using 3.5 GHz spectrum, replacing the previous WiMax technology.
The decision to invest in fixed LTE follows a successful pilot in the small town of Rieux-Volvestre – one the first pilots in France of this kind. The network upgrade is expected to increase access speeds from 4 Mbps to 30 Mbps.
