Voicemail service launched in Bangladesh

Callers from now on will be able to send voicemail and leave a recorded message to the busy or unavailable number as the service was inaugurated in Bangladesh today.

Sajeeb Wazed Joy, son of Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina and also her adviser, inaugurated the service by sending a voicemail to Bangladesh Telecommunication Regulatory Commission (BTRC).

The inauguration took place at BTRC office this morning with its Chairman Dr Shahjahan Mahmood in the chair.

Initially, Robi, Banglalink and Teletalk mobile service operators will get the service. Gradually, other mail operators will get the service.

Voicemail allows callers to leave a voice message when the user is on another call, does not answer or when their phone is switched off. Subscribers can listen to the recorded message at a later time.
