Nextel Argentina acquisitions passed by Enacom

Argentina's telecom regulator has approved Nextel's acquisition of five local wireless operators, whose spectrum holdings will allow it to launch 4G services. Nextel announced in October that it had acquired 100 percent of the share capital of Skyonline, Netizen, Trixco, Infotel and Calibi for a total of USD 140 million with a view to securing much-needed spectrum in the 900 MHz and 2.5 GHz bands. Nextel is now owned by Cablevision, a subsidiary of media conglomerate Clarin, which is in the process of converting the company into a multi-play operator.
