Spanish FTTH growth continues at a remarkable rate

The total number of FTTH lines in Spain has exceeded 4.5 million according to the latest data with the total number of FTTH lines increasing by 155,180 over the last couple of months.

The data shows that Movistar accounted for 63.1% of the total number of FTTH lines, equivalent to 2.9 million, as of the end of October.

Significantly, the number of FTTH lines increased by 1.8 million in the year to October, whole the number of DSL lines fell by 1.4 million in the same period.

Meanwhile, the cable (HFC) total increased by 158,000 in the year to October 31.

In the fixed sector, Movistar, Orange (including Jazztel) and Vodafone (including Ono) accounted for 95% of all lines.

Vodafone saw its total increase the most (+32,600) in October, followed by Orange (+27,400), while Movistar registered a fall (-1,700).
