Ofcom has published a consultation as part of its strategic review of the 410-470 MHz spectrum band (UHF Bands 1 and 2) which will help them understand whether its current approach to managing the band is able to meet the needs of current and future users.
Uses for the band are diverse and complex, and include business radio, emergency services and utilities, among others. Although there is potential for demand to grow from both new and current users, Ofcom is not proposing large-scale regulatory intervention, but instead an evolution of our current spectrum management approach.
We are inviting stakeholders’ views on our analysis and our policy proposals. Once confirmed, these policy proposals will create the framework for managing this spectrum for the next ten years.
The closing date for responses to this consultation is February 13, 2017
