Indonesia’s Telkomsel, working with Ericsson, Huawei, Nokia and ZTE, says it has debuted 4.5G services in nine cities, namely: Grapari in Medan, Jakarta, Bandung, Denpasar, Mataram, Pontianak, Makassar, Manado and Ambon.
The cellco is using 20MHz of bandwidth in the 1800MHz band combined with 4×4 MIMO technology for its 4.5G deployment, with Telkomsel saying the latest upgrade forms part of a wider commitment to provide reliable broadband networks that already comprise more than 5,200 eNode B (4G BTS) serving more than twelve million 4G LTE customers in more than 180 city districts in Indonesia today.
