O2 rolls out 4G internet across Howden

Mobile phone network O2 has rolled out its 4G service to Howden, providing faster mobile internet for users. Telefónica UK, which trades as O2, says the 4G network will allow customers to experience a new level of high speed mobile internet.

Derek McManus, chief operating officer at Telefónica UK, said: “O2 customers in Howden can now experience faster mobile internet on their devices such as streaming high definition television, shopping on the go, and video calling.

“For our business customers, 4G is all about working more effectively. For instance, they can work remotely, access cloud services and collaborate using apps. O2 4G can make everything easier for our customers."

O2 is spending £600m in 2016 on its network and by the end of 2017 will have invested over £3bn in 4G and the modernisation of its 2G and 3G networks across the UK.

The telecommunications provider currently offers 4G in more than 9,000 towns and cities across the UK.

It has made a commitment to Ofcom, the telecommunications regulator, to provide indoor coverage for 98 per cent of the UK population by the end of 2017.
