Chinese mobile manufacturer set to enter Pakistan market

China’s smartphone manufacturer Xiaomi has received type approvals from the Pakistani regulator which will now allow it to sell its smartphones in the country.

According to sources, the telecom authority was approached by local distributors including Daraz, Cheezmall and Haier for commercial NoC.

Under the Telecom Act 1996 (section 29), no terminal equipment can be directly or indirectly connected with PSTN unless it has been type approved by the PTA.

Reports also suggest that Xiaomi will also offer the full range of its Eco products that include Power banks, MI VR and MI band 2.
