Argentinian telecom regulator to dedicate 700 MHz band to security services

The Argentinian government is planning to allocate part of the 700 MHz band to the country's public security and disaster relief services according to communications minister Oscar Aguad. "Argentina is going to have spectrum dedicated to security and disaster services, for use by the police, the prefecture, the gendarmerie and airport security forces,” said Aguad, while confirming that the band will also be freed up for retail mobile phone use.

The country’s telecom regulator Enacom is aiming to issue a timetable for the release of remaining spectrum in the 700 MHz band by the end of the year, added Aguad.
