SFR expands its fibre footprint to 9 million premises

French telecoms operator Numericable-SFR (SFR) has revealed that it rolled out its fibre network to an additional 125,000 homes and businesses in 56 towns (‘communes’) last month, increasing the total coverage of its high speed infrastructure to nine million premises across the country. Of the 56 communes, 14 gained access to SFR’s fibre network for the first time, including Arradon, Barcy, Chavelot and Les Forges, and the remaining 42 benefited from expanded fibre coverage, including Bayonne, Nice, Marseille, Nimes, Lille, Paris and Biarritz. Since the beginning of the year, SFR has deployed its high speed infrastructure in over 220 new locations, to serve more than 1,300 French towns, and the company is aiming to increase its fibre footprint to 22 million homes and businesses by 2022.

With regards to mobile developments, SFR expanded its 4G LTE network to 896 new communes last month, including Cassis, Albertville, Gauchy, Marck and Marnaz, as it aims to increase coverage to 90% of the population by the end of 2017.
