Telefónica to provide IoT connectivity for Nestlé coffee machines

Telefónica’s enterprise arm has won a deal to provide Internet of Things connectivity to Nestlé’s range of coffee machines.

The Spain-based operator will supply its Smart m2m solution to Nestlé Professional, which provides a range of catering services to businesses around the world.

New Nestlé Professional coffee machines will be fitted with the Telefónica platform, while legacy versions will be retrofitted with a module that offers the same capabilities.

Telefónica said the deal, which covers 50 countries, would enable Nestlé to monitor a range of parameters associated with the machines, including remote configuration and predictive maintenance.

It would also allow the company to adjust the taste of its coffees, which include NESCAFÉ Milano and Nespresso, Telefónica added.

Henri de Roo, Global Head of Business Applications, at Nestlé commented: “Telefonica enabled us a new way of communicating and interacting with our coffee solutions at a global scale, allowing us to personalise our customer experience.”
