DE-CIX introduces new service model and expands portfolio to "DirectCLOUD" product

DE-CIX will introduce a new service model in 2017 and expand its product portfolio to include "DirectCLOUD". The new service model creates a logical separation of the port into two parts: a physical access and virtual services. This means that in future, alongside the familiar DE-CIX GlobePEER Service, further services – such as MetroVLAN and DirectCLOUD – can be booked from a single access. This new service model will facilitate the introduction of new products, services and features on the Apollon Platform. The change to the pricing structure on the basis of the service model serves as a simplification, and will enable customer needs to be fulfilled individually. For example, in future a customer will not need an Autonomous System Number (ASN) to take advantage of services. "Through separating access and service, we are taking an essential step from being a pure peering platform to becoming an interconnection and service platform, and with this we are placing ourselves in an optimal position for the coming years," says Harald A. Summa, CEO of DE-CIX, on the new service strategy. The new service model will become available at all DE-CIX locations world-wide in the course of the year.

Securely and reliably into the cloud with DE-CIX – Amazon AWS as the first Cloud Service Provider available

DE-CIX is expanding its product portfolio, with immediate effect, to include "DirectCLOUD" and will enable customers to access cloud service provider connected to DE-CIX. The first provider to become available is Amazon Web Services (AWS), one of the largest cloud providers world-wide. A number of popular services – such as Dropbox, Netflix, Foursquare, Reddit and HootSuite – draw on the services of AWS. In addition to this, the portfolio of cloud providers will be enlarged further in the near future.

Customers can expect improved network performance, increased security, and lower costs for infrastructure with DirectCLOUD. DirectCLOUD is available in a range of bandwidths from 50 Mbit/s to 10 GBit/s. For existing customers, a connection to a cloud provider via DirectCLOUD can be created in just a few minutes, and for new customers in just a few days.

DirectCLOUD is initially available at all DE-CIX locations – the so-called "enabled sites" – in the metropolitan region of Frankfurt. In conjunction with this, in September DE-CIX expanded the

availability of its services in Frankfurt to 20 data centers, entering a partnership with Global Switch, one of the leading operators, owners and developers of provider-neutral data centers for enterprise customers in the European and Asia-Pacific regions.
