Google's Project Fi now offers wireless group plans

Google's WiFi focused Project Fi service has added a new wrinkle: group plans. According to the company, users can now add as many users to a Google Fi account as they'd like for an additional $15 per user. Under Project Fi, for $20 a month users get unlimited talk, text, tethering and international roaming in 120+ countries. After that, it's a flat $10 per each additional gigabyte of GB for cellular data whether in the U.S. or abroad (read: $10 for 1 GB, $20 for 2 GB, or $30 for 3 GB) up to 10 GB per month.

The service leans primarily on WiFi, but when out of range customers use the Sprint, T-Mobile and US Cellular networks as backup.

With the new group plan, users just need to begin invited people (including existing Fi subscribers) from their Fi account page. Unlike some similar plans this isn't restricted to family: users can add friends, classmates, or co-workers to their Google Fi group to get the discount.

As it stands you'll need a Google Nexus 5X, Nexus 6, Nexus 6P -- or the recently announced Pixel lineup of phones -- to use the service. Google's currently offering $100 off the Nexus 6P and $150 off the Nexus 5X when customers sign up for Project Fi.

Project Fi's group plan doesn't require a contract, and users can join and leave groups without penalty or fees. If a user consumes less data than their full allotment, they'll get a cash refund for the difference.
