Huawei to share Smart City vision at GITEX

ICT solutions provider Huawei will showcase its ‘new ICT' solutions which are helping shape the future in a connected world.

As the world's population increases, governments are rethinking their approach to managing city resources and citizens. As a result, Huawei is embracing digital transformations with innovative solutions from the Internet of Things (IoT), cloud, big data, mobility and Software-Defined-Networking (SDN).

This year's key highlights will include solutions developed together with Huawei's technology partners, designed specifically for government, education, hospitality, real estate, banking and transportation sectors in the Middle East.

Charles Yang, president of Huawei Middle East, said: "The need of the hour is for infrastructure networks in the Middle East to connect cities - creating information-sharing platforms that carry smart applications for happier and safer communities. At GITEX 2016, Huawei brings the latest technologies, innovations and best practices that redefine the way organizations operate in a Smart City environment."

During the first day, Huawei Innovation Day will take centre stage, where Huawei business leaders, product experts, partners and customers will present keynote sessions and a panel discussion focused on ‘shaping the future in times of innovation'. Huawei Innovation Day will also see the launch of a new Smart City Readiness Index that is being developed by Navigant, commissioned by Huawei.

Huawei will also deliver two keynotes at the ‘Road to 5G' session, showcasing the developments and challenges in adopting fifth generation mobile networks. At the ‘Industrial IoT & Smart Cities' session, a session on ‘Wireless at the Heart of IoT in the Smart City and for Low Power Wide Area (LPWA)' focusing on the role of mobile operators in delivering services based on IoT, which will also be addressed by a Huawei expert.

Additionally, Huawei will deliver an interactive session on ‘Digital Roads to Smarter Cities', as well as panel discussions on cloud, secure networks and changing threats.
