The Argentinian over-the-top (OTT) video platform, Qubit.tv, is eying growth opportunities in Latin America, and is now preparing launches in Peru, Chile, Costa Rica and Panama during 2017.
After operating some years as a start-up in its home country, Qubit.tv opened a Bogotá-based office in 2014, from which it controlled an expansive strategy that has brought the platform into Colombia, Guatemala, Ecuador, Uruguay and Paraguay so far.
In an interview with the Costa Rican newspaper La República , Qubit.tv’s commercial director, Jorge Ortiz, unveiled the plans for the near future.
“We intend to launch in Costa Rica, Panama, Chile and Peru through the next year,” said Ortiz. “Qubit.tv is the only OTT platform offering an entertainment experience curated by specialist, including many films which are not part of the commercial circuit.”
Currently, the platform has over 3,500 titles available on-demand (VOD). As it expands throughout the region, Qubit.tv is gaining some strong content partners, such as BBC Worldwide, with which has recently signed a distribution agreement.
