Asianet has unveiled a mobile app for live streaming of 50 Malayalam, Tamil and other regional TV channels from across India to all iOS or Android-based mobile devices.
The globally available over-the-top (OTT) video app, which will also deliver 100 Internet radio channels, will be expanded in the future to provide on-demand entertainment and catch-up TV services, says the South Asian content aggregator.
“Mobile consumption has been tremendous and Asianet is poised to ride the big wave with Asianet Mobile TV+, offering services across the globe in entertainment and various other modules to the global Indian audience. From Asianet Digital Cable TV and Asianet Broadband services available in few states in the country, Asianet Mobile TV+ service will be the platform to extend the trusted Asianet stamp of service across the world, for access and enjoyment by anybody anywhere,” said G Sankaranarayana, president and chief operating officer, Asianet.
S Satishkumar, executive vice president, Asianet, added: “With wireless technology being the fastest medium for entertainment and information, Asianet Mobile TV + will be providing various modules for keeping the subscriber engaged. Asianet is excited to partner with XperioLabs as the platform to launch our mobile app service.”
Asianet Mobile TV can be downloaded from the Google Play store or Apple App Store, with a launch offer of a month’s free subscription to 50 channels.
