Algerian cellcos Optimum Telecom Algerie (OTA, operating as Djezzy) and Algerie Telecom Mobile (Mobilis) have applied for extensions of their GSM licences, which will expire on 31 July and 4 August, respectively, Agence Ecofin reports. Both operators have requested a renewal of their authorisations for 15 years. In its 2015 annual report, the Regulatory Authority for Post and Telecommunications (ARPT) said that it has started work on a recommendation for extension, as the two applications were in line with the requirements for renewal.
