Nepal passes 30 million telephony customers milestone

Nepal reached 30.3 million voice telephony subscribers at 14 March, up from 29.9 on 13 February. The country’s mobile voice subscriber base amounted to 28.6 million users at 14 March, up from 28.2 million in February, according to data from the Nepal Telecommunications Authority (NTA). The total includes 27.26 million GSM users in March, up from 26.89 million in the previous month, with the remaining 1.38 million use Nepal Telecom's CDMA service, up from 1.36 in February.

NDCL led the country’s voice telephony services market in March, with a total of 14.43 million subscribers, followed by Ncell with 13.63 million. Nepal had a mobile teledensity of 106.66 percent at mid-March, while fixed teledensity reached 3.20 percent.

Nepal also had 13.2 million data/internet services users at 14 March, and an internet penetration of 50.11 percent.
