Orange Business Services has teamed up UK-based start-up Konetik to launch a fleet management solution for SMEs in Europe.
The “aftermarket” product features a device that plugs into the diagnostic port of the vehicle to access data, such as fuel consumption, driving behavior and telematics.
Data is sent to the cloud, via a direct data connection, enabling the fleet manager to access it on a computer dashboard for further analysis.
Drivers can access information via a smartphone app.
The France-based operator’s enterprise arm is providing a SIM card that offers data connectivity in addition to a range of value-added services.
The solution is aimed at fleets of up to 200 cars.
It will launch in Germany, followed by Austria, Switzerland and, eventually, the whole of Europe.
Konetik CEO Balazs Szabo said: “Cars generate a large amount of accessible data which we believe could benefit SMEs in streamlining their fleet management to make data-driven decisions, making the whole process simpler and less time consuming.”
According to research house Berg Insight, the number of fleet management systems in Europe is forecast to grow at a CAGR of 15.1 percent from 4.4 million units at the end of 2014 to 8.9 million by 2019.
