Huawei, a leading global information and communications technology (ICT) solutions provider, on Wednesday finalised its partnership with Landis+Gyr AG to jointly develop smart metering solutions for Middle East market.
The new development will be based on Huawei’s Hi-PLC module and Landis+Gyr’s E350 modular electricity meter. The move will see the development of a smart power metering solution for specific utility initiatives in the Middle East.
“We realise that Smart City initiatives will continue to rely heavily on innovation by technology leaders like Huawei as key enablers of smarter services in many verticals.”
Nazir further said that Huawei’s Connected City Lighting Solution is just one of many examples where the company are taking a leadership role in developing large-scale IoT solutions that enable governments regionally to capitalise on advanced infrastructure technologies and create smarter, more efficient cities.
“The IoT opportunity is vast and requires multiple forms of technology in order to address the various use cases. Huawei will be demonstrating a range of solutions based on current and future ready technologies, such as Narrow Band IoT (NB-IoT),” added Nazir.
Nazir explained that the solution connects street lighting to a city’s network and uses a GIS-based management system, enabling city’s utility management to enhance the control and performance of every street.
