QCell, Gambia’s second largest mobile operator by subscribers, has officially launched its mobile money services, under the ‘Qodoo’ brand name. In a launch event at its head office on Tuesday, QCell’s CEO Muhammed Jah announced the commercial introduction of mobile money services in partnership with major financial institutions in the country, Gambian newspaper The Point reported. Qodoo users will be able to use their phones to send and receive money, buy QCell voice/data credit, buy ‘QPower’ electricity credit, pay bills and much more, the company said in a statement. QCell added that Qodoo is ‘the first of its kind’ in the Gambian market, which will ‘give customers financial flexibility’ and ‘be beneficial to the daily lives of Gambians.’
