Lenovo and Juniper Networks announced a partnership to develop products for the data centre infrastructure market. The alliance reflects a commitment "to deliver simplified, flexible, and high-performance solutions that will provide customers faster time-to-application value with reduced operating costs", the companies said in a statement.
The cooperation will be build on Lenovo's x86-based servers and switches and Juniper's portfolio of routers, switches, network management software, network security products and software-defined networking technology. Customers will be able to purchase Juniper’s networking products directly from Lenovo as a result of the cooperation.
Lenovo and Juniper will also work together on disaggregation of hardware and software in the data centre, developing open, flexible solutions to market based on the ONIE (Open Network Install Environment) model. In addition, they will collaborate to offer simplified management and orchestration in the data centre leveraging Lenovo’s xClarity management software as well as Juniper’s Network Director and Contrail SDN software.
The new offerings will be offered worldwide to enterprise customers, service providers, channel partners and system integrators through a joint go-to-market model, including a tailor-made resell model for the Chinese market.
