Huawei launches Gigabit home platform

Looking to tap the Ultra HD-led Gigabit home phenomenon, Huawei has launched its Any Media Giga Access Platform for pay-TV and broadband operators.

Driven by video streaming, 4KTV, virtual reality, holographic imaging and other new bandwidth-hungry services, broadband networks are moving from the 100Mbps-level to gigabit speeds in the home. While optical fibre is an ideal access method, most operators have a mix of copper, coax cable and other access media in their footprints. Huawei’s platform is design to allow them to use disparate access types to support gigabit speeds with a unified architecture, software and management.

"The impressive rate of development in ultra-HD video, virtual reality, smart home and other services is moving broadband networks from the 100Mbps-level to the giga-level,” said Zha Jun, president of Fixed Network Product Line for Huawei. "Huawei's Any Media Giga Access Platform can make full use of existing copper, coax, and fibre resources to help operators achieve their Gigaband strategies early on, in order to provide a better user experience and achieve even greater commercial success. Huawei continues to stay on the gas with its technological innovations into the field and contributions into the industrial chain."
