Rakuten-owned streaming platform Wuaki.tv has increased users by 55% over the last year, reaching three million registered subscribers worldwide.
According to the figures published by Europa Press, Wuaki.tv has added 600,000 users just in Spain, its largest market, taking the country’s total to two million subs by the end of 2015.
The Barcelona-based company is also working in the UK, France, Germany and Italy, and recently launched in Ireland and Austria. Through all these territories, Wuaki.tv has over one million users, representing a 55% growth during 2015.
Indeed, the company is carrying out an important expansion plan that should have seen the platform operating in ten countries before the end of 2015. However, there are some territories to go, but launches in Belgium and Portugal are expected to be announced soon.
Wuaki.tv also faced the arrival of Netflix in Spain during the last quarter of 2015. According to the company, the American platform has helped to increase awareness of streaming services, which has benefited the entire market.
