Vodafone Ireland launches IPTV service

Vodafone Ireland has launched TV services for the first time, delivered through IPTV via high-speed broadband. The premium service is available from EUR 40 per month to all new and existing Vodafone Home (Broadband) customers. As part of the Vodafone TV service, the operator is launching a new TV Anywhere app for mobile customers, which is included in the cost of the Vodafone TV package.

Research commissioned by Vodafone to mark the launch of the TV service found that Irish viewers are changing their viewing habits. It shows that one quarter of Irish adults now view TV content on-demand, and an additional quarter using online streaming.

The Vodafone Basic TV package offers a minimum of 55 TV channels, the add-on of Netflix or Sports (BT and Setanta Sports) with unlimited broadband and landline calls included for EUR 40 for six months, rising to EUR 70 per month thereafter.

The Vodafone TV Plus package includes all Basic TV elements with additional kids, Comedy, Eurosport channels, extra music options plus access to additional documentary channels, with two add-ons included (Netflix or Sports or Multi-Room), plus unlimited broadband and calls for EUR 40 per month for six months, rising to EUR 80 per month thereafter. Customers can also add on Sky Sports and Sky Movies packages.

Vodafone Ireland had 225,000 broadband customers at the end of September 2015.
