Cloud is future of broadcasting

Collaborative workflows from anywhere at any time, digital distribution, video-on-demand (VOD) or TV everywhere will improve through cloud technology, according to VSN's white paper.

VSNExplorer, the Spanish company’s media management solution, has recently been updated to take advantage of the cloud. Its media asset management (MAM), production asset management (PAM), business process management (BPM) and business intelligence (BI) modules are capable of managing content, production environments, business processes and data to improve decision-making through the cloud.

“We live in a global world, and many companies now have different offices around the planet. Thanks to the cloud and VSNExplorer, offices around the globe are capable of collaborating at the same time on the same project, with simultaneous access to the content to edit and manage, adding each one its workload to the overall effort and with a real conversation between the members of the teams,” says the white paper.

According to VSN, the cloud enables broadcasters to maximise the value of media assets, optimise media exchange management, decentralise and customise workflows, reduce costs and improve monetisation.

“Cloud technologies open new business opportunities for digital distribution, such as video-on-demand or Web TV platforms for smart devices,” continues the paper.

“The cloud has brought together new challenges and new opportunities that have changed the industry forever. Facing them is more than ever mandatory to achieve success in a sector that never stops innovating.”
