HBO selects Colombia's ETB to kick off LATAM OTT launch

HBO Go has launched as an over-the-top (OTT) standalone platform for ETB subscribers, the first in Latin America to experience the service.

HBO recently announced Colombia would become the first country to get HBO's new subscription streaming service, before it extended throughout Latin America (including Brazil) and the Caribbean.

With a fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) connection across Bogotá and 1.2 million customers, ETB is one of Colombia's best established telecom operators.

“This alliance with ETB is the first milestone of our strategy of launching HBO Go as a subscription streaming service across the region, enabling viewers to consume our HBO/MAX content anywhere, at any time,” said Francisco L Smith, EVP, distribution and media development, HBO Latin America. “We'll soon announce new launches with other operators in the region.”

HBO Go kicks off with over 2,500 on-demand titles, including Hollywood films, the whole HBO series portfolio - including hits like Game of Thrones and True Detective - and the MAX’s independent and international catalogue.

With this new launch, HBO Go is no longer only available as a pay-TV complement. It can be subscribed to for $9.50 through the sites Hbogola.com and Etb.com, and the mobile app is available for free in iOS and Android stores.
