Net Insight to offer 'true' live OTT

Live, interactive and on-demand media transport firm Net Insight has entered the over-the-top (OTT) arena to encourage social interactivity and solve OTT challenges.

Net Insight believes it is uniquely positioned to bring real-time delivery of content, which enables true live OTT distribution, supporting and encouraging social interactivity among television audiences.

The company says that increasing demand for OTT content is expected to create an 'incredible' market opportunity, especially with live OTT offerings, such as global sports programmes and other live events. Yet it warns that current OTT delivery platforms and CDNs' best effort solutions are not optimised for live and there can be a delay of up to a few minutes on a traditional OTT platform.

Net Insight added that what it called the disconnect between the primary and secondary screens is negatively impacting the audience experience and making social media interaction, customer engagement and other time-sensitive applications impossible.

A true live OTT solution, it asserts, will change this scenario and Net Insight will now take a leading role in this exciting development.
