Mauritius Telecom targets 1,000 IPTV subscribers per month

Mauritius Telecom (MT) is targeting more than 1,000 subscribers per month for its IPTV service after deployment of its Fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) service. In December 2014, its IPTV services offer exceeded the threshold of 100,000 subscribers. The multiscreen service launched by My.T allowed subscribers in the same household to watch different My.T channels on different TV sets, smartphones or tablets simultaneously. The VoD service was upgraded and is providing more than 2,000 content items for its subscribers, Nextvame reported.

Mauritius Telecom's FTTH deployment started in 2013 and entailed an investment of USD 150 million. According to the CEO Sherry Singh, as at the end of December 2014, there were 15,515 subscribers to broadband internet, 820,000 to mobile and 362,000 to its fixed line services. According to Dataxis, there are about 340,000 TV households in Mauritius and about one third of them have IPTV service.
