Orange Business Service connects with Google in the cloud

Orange Business Services has partnered with Google to extend the capabilities of its Virtual Private Network (VPN) hub for enterprises.

Orange’s enterprise-facing unit has connected its Business VPN Galerie cloud hub with Google Cloud Interconnect (GCI), allowing customers to access cloud services from Google.

Among its potential uses, Orange said its enterprise customers could now directly access Google Cloud Platform data centres in the US, Europe and Asia “via a secure, high-performance and managed network”.

It added the collaboration would offer “new ways of working”.

Orange’s Business VPN Galerie offers a hub between enterprise VPNS and cloud service providers.

Pierre-Louis Biaggi, Vice President of Networks at Orange Business Services, said: “Business VPN Galerie is part of our Hybrid Network strategy designed to help enterprises cope with the predicted tripling of global IP traffic between 2014 and 2018.

“[It] has become a premier choice for enterprises that are moving workloads to the cloud. Today more than 1,300 enterprises and more than 20 cloud partners – including Orange Cloud for Business, Google Cloud Platform, Microsoft Express Route, Salesforce, AWS, Ingenico, Cegid – trust us at over 33,000 sites around the world.”

Last week, Orange Business Services launched a new communications platform for the shipping industry to help companies integrate their fleets into their corporate networks.

Orange saw sales from enterprise customers slip 0.5 percent to €1.6 billion in Q2 as voice and data revenues declined.
