Thailand 900MHz potential bidder list same as 1800MHz

The list of potential bidders is the same as the previously-revealed line-up for November’s 1800MHz 4G licence sale, namely cellular market leader Advanced Info Service (AIS), second-placed cellco Digital Total Access Communication (DTAC), third-largest mobile provider True Corp (True Move H) and Jas Mobile Broadband (a subsidiary of Jasmine International, parent of Thai fixed network operator Triple T Broadband). In full, the specific named companies picking up documents were: AIS’ subsidiary Advanced Wireless Network; two subsidiaries of DTAC – DTAC TriNet and DTAC Broadband; two subsidiaries of True Corp – True Move H Universal Communication and Hutchison Telecommunications (Thailand); and Jas Mobile Broadband. The Bangkok Post reports that the 900MHz auction documents are available until 21 October, with the deadline for the submission of bids scheduled for 22 October. Takorn Tantasith, secretary-general of the NBTC, indicated that the previously-announced 15 December auction date for the 900MHz concessions was subject to change; he was quoted as saying the NBTC was considering rescheduling the auction date for the 900MHz auction to an earlier date ‘in order to eliminate potential risks for those bidders who failed to win a licence on the 1800MHz spectrum’. ‘We expect to finalise the auction date for the 900MHz licences by 15 October,’ he added.
