Swedish telecom equipment vendor Ericsson is working on improving its position in India by strengthening its leadership in the next generation technologies.
“All hardwares we are developing will be capable to move to 5G and will have multi-standard, multi-layer and multi-band technology in-built. These hardwares can be operated on 2G, 3G, 4G and the futuristic 5G which would start evolving around 2020. Besides all our equipment will have in-built FDD (Frequency Division Duplex) and TDD (Time Division Duplex)…” Ericsson global president and CEO Hans Vestberg said while launching its two new products concerning radio system and tower equipment for the Indian market.
“Strengthening our position as a leading software company, as well as establishing early leadership in the standardisation and realisation of the next generation of mobile networks or 5G, which is evolving. These are key factors for success,” Vestberg observed. The Ericsson CEO also pointed out that the telecom industry has been very slow in technology revolution.
Indian telecom companies constitute around 6.5% of the global demand for telecommunication equipment.
