Marketing of 4G services will begin by end of 2015

Tunisia's Minister of Communication Technologies and Digital Economy Noomen Fehri said marketing of the 4G telecommunication services will begin by the end of 2015, adding that in two weeks a tender will be launched to select a consultancy firm to set the guidelines.

Speaking to TAP on the sidelines of his visit Saturday to the delegation of El Mida, Governorate of Nabeul, he noted that a Cabinet meeting will be held next September 7 to decide on the final orientation that will be adopted in the implementation of this project.

Specifications containing the conditions for granting a 4G licence will later be published.

He said major decisions will be taken at the second meeting of the strategic council of digital economy scheduled for next September 11.

These decisions will pertain, in particular, to determining the unique identifier that will ease administrative procedures and the implementation of e-governance engineering besides examining major projects as part of public-private partnership.

Regarding the digital terrestrial television (DTT), Fehri said the coverage rate has reached to date 98%, noting that the effective start will take place before the end of 2015.
