UK-based fibre-optic cable manufacturer m2fx has been selected by Iraqi cable infrastructure firm Hevek to provide its full product range, including fibre cables, lightweight aerial solutions and microducts for fibre-to-the-home (FTTH) networks. The terms of the partnership were not disclosed, although m2fx claims that its Miniflex and QuikPush products will provide a robust and low-cost solution that can be rolled out quickly.

Commenting on the deal, Fariborz Ardalan, Hevek Company’s managing director, was quoted as saying: ‘[m2fx] offers the lightest and most flexible aerial cable on the market, while its Miniflex design has no direct competitors, and uniquely provides our customers with a true outdoor/indoor fibre-optic cable that can be pushed up to 100m in microducts by hand. With m2fx solutions now available in Iraq data providers finally have the opportunity to quickly respond to customer demands without needing expensive installation equipment or highly trained engineers.’

m2fx stressed the resilience and low-cost of its offerings, claiming that its Miniflex fibre products combine ‘lightness, flexibility and robustness’ and can be nailed directly to external and internal wall without the need for additional ducting. Meanwhile, according to the vendor, its QuikPush technology also dramatically increases installation speed as crews can simply push or pull fibre to its destination, allowing crews to complete 60% more installations per day, without impacting quality. Further, m2fx claims that by removing the need for skilled and experienced engineers, its product line can bring down costs by up to 50% in the Middle East.
