KT Corp., a South Korean telecommunications company, said Thursday it has partnered with U.S. software platform firm Palantir Technologies Inc. to enhance its artificial intelligence (AI) transformation business.
The strategic partnership with Palantir is aimed at accelerating KT's AI transformation (AX) business in the United States and seeking joint business opportunities in the domestic market, KT said in a press release.
"A combination of Palantir's core AI solutions, and KT's advanced cloud and network infrastructure will allow them to provide the most optimized AI solutions to local companies (in Korea)," the release said.
Through the partnership, KT became the first Korean company to join Palantir's "Worldwide Partner Ecosystem," a network of the U.S. firm's partner companies with technological prowess, as an official member, it said.
KT's alliance with Palantir follows its five-year partnership with Microsoft Corp. signed last year, which involved a 2.4 trillion-won (US$1.65 billion) investment to jointly develop AI technologies and new cloud services.
KT, the country's biggest fixed-line service provider and second-biggest wireless service provider, has said it will morph into an "AICT" company, a fusion of AI, telecommunications, and information and communications technology (ICT).
"KT's key slogan will be the complete transformation into an AICT company from this year. We will drive innovation across all areas," KT Chief Executive Officer Kim Young-shub said at a press conference held on the sidelines of the Mobile World Congress (MWC) 2025 earlier this month in Spain.
