The BSS specialist has announced a significant milestone in its partnership with Uzbek mobile operator Perfectum and tech giant Nokia.
As Qvantel explains, Perfectum has, in the space of just nine months, gone from a startup to making test calls and pre-commercial FWA launch on its 5G SA network. The Perfectum 5G SA services will be available to 50% of the country’s 37 million population in 2025 and in two years will be available in all regions of Uzbekistan.
Qvantel and Nokia have supplied their joint digital monetisation solution to Perfectum, and Nokia has supplied the 5G SA network and associated systems.
As Dmitry Shukov, CEO of Perfectum, points out: “We started 5G SA from scratch and are a classic startup. The contract for the supply, installation and launch of equipment for the 5G SA network was signed in April 2024 and just nine months later, we are talking about the practical launch of the 5G SA network in a country with a population of 37 million people and a territory of half a million square kilometres.”
He adds: “As well as providing 5G SA mobile services we will roll out fixed wireless access to provide ultra-high-speed home and business broadband services, which will accelerate the digital transformation of Uzbekistan”.
Varun Galande, CCO of Qvantel, say: “To go from a startup to having a practical launch of a 5G SA network in just nine months is testimony to the vision, skill and dedication of the teams in Perfectum, Qvantel and Nokia,” said Varun Galande, CCO of Qvantel.
Erez Sverdlov, Vice President, Cloud and Network Services Market Leader for Europe at Nokia, adds: “This implementation is a blueprint for a fast-track 5G SA rollout. Perfectum has rapidly built the foundation that is enabling the delivery of new network services in a multi-cloud environment, a key pillar of Nokia’s 5G Core strategy, while doing so quickly, securely, and at scale. We look forward to working with our partners, Perfectum and Qvantel, to drive new revenue opportunities and long-term growth.”
Qvantel seems to be having a busy MWC25. We reported on Monday that Qvantel had secured a major contract from global digital operator Veon to provide managed services to run BSS operations for Veon digital operators.
