Edotco and KRSB to build up digital infrastructure in Sarawak

Axiata’s telecoms infrastructure company Edotco announced that it has signed a strategic agreement with Malaysian infrastructure firm Kejuruteraan Rasshin (KRSB) to expand digital infrastructure in Sarawak.

The collaboration deal, signed at the Sarawak Pavilion at Mobile World Congress 2025, aims to leverage KRSB’s local expertise and Edotco’s technological capabilities to deliver 4G and 5G-ready infrastructure in Sarawak that will support local ecosystems such as smart city development, digital education, e-commerce, and government digitalisation efforts.

Edotco said the initial phase of implementation will focus on expanding network coverage to priority commercial, industrial and rural areas to provide key economic zones with reliable, high-speed connectivity. Over time, the partnership with KRSB will support emerging digital applications, enterprise connectivity solutions, and integrated smart infrastructure.

The eventual result, says Edotco, will be a “future-proof telecommunications ecosystem” that will enable Sarawak to “unlock new opportunities in digital services, smart industries, and high-value investments, strengthening its position as a leading hub for digital transformation in Malaysia.”

Edotco also said the KRSB partnership complements the Sarawak Rural Broadband Network (MySRBN) and the state’s investment in smart towers, as well as the Sarawak government’s MYR2.25 billion (US$503.6 million) investment in telecoms infrastructure and its Sarawak Digital Economy Blueprint 2030 to bridge the digital divide.

“This partnership is a crucial step toward ensuring that every community in Sarawak, regardless of location, has access to reliable, high-speed connectivity,” said Gayan Koralage, Edotco’s director of Malaysia Business, in a statement. “By joining forces, we are helping MNOs expand their network reach faster and more efficiently across the state.”

“This collaboration aims to improve connectivity and empower local communities and businesses by integrating them into the state's evolving digital ecosystem,” added Managing Director of KRSB, Mohammed Ariffin Adenan.
