ZTE, a global leading provider of integrated information and communication technology solutions, in partnership with MASORANGE, a leading global telecommunications provider, has successfully completed the world's first deployment of 800G coherent optical modules with SRv6 in the IP backbone network.
This milestone marks a significant leap in network efficiency, scalability, security, and high-speed data transport for next-generation networks.
To address these challenges, ZTE has adopted the latest ZXR10 M6000-SE routers, which support up to 256 ports of 800G and can be flexibly configured to simplify existing solutions. These features provide a solid foundation for future large-scale data traffic, fully meeting urgent needs in areas such as artificial intelligence, 5G, and cloud computing.
This is a cutting-edge technology that enables ultra-fast data transmission while decoupling the optical and IP layers to optimize network resources.
The advantages of this new 800G coherent optical communication technology with SRv6 are:
Higher transmission capacity: 800G coherent optics can provide extremely high-speed data transmission, which help MASORANGE to build a congestion-free network with ultra low latency.
Meeting future demand: With the continuous growth of data traffic, such as the development of 5G/6G networks, the Internet of Things (IoT), artificial intelligence(AI) applications and machine learning; 800G coherent optics technology can meet the increasing bandwidth demands of the future.
Improved network efficiency: It helps optimize the overall network infrastructure. By using 800G coherent optical modules with adjustable wavelengths, fewer optical elements are needed to achieve the same level of data transfer, reducing costs and infrastructure complexity, with up to 80% power consumption reduction in transmission unit.
Better network resilience: SRv6 enables faster rerouting and supports mechanisms for creating highly resilient paths. This can improve the overall reliability and availability of the network infrastructure, especially for critical traffic.
Enhanced security: SRv6 provides greater control of path, preventing unwanted paths, enforcing traffic flow through firewalls, prioritizing QoS for critical communications, and allowing easier and more agile implementation of routing policies to mitigate attack impacts.
ZTE and MASORANGE will host a launch event on March 4th, at the ZTE booth (3F30, Hall 3) during MWC Barcelona 2025, where they will jointly unveil the world's first deployment of 800G coherent optics with SRv6 in commercial network.
