Roku grew revenues in the fourth quarter amid string advertising sales.
The platform benefitted from continued demand for streaming services and demand for political advertising in the run up to the US elections.
Q4 2024 became the first quarter with more than $1 billion in Platform revenue, which grew by 25% year-on-year. Total net revenue was $4.1 billion, up 18% year on year.
“We continue to make progress growing ad demand through deeper third-party platform integrations, improving the Roku Experience (which starts at our Home Screen) to expand monetization, and growing Roku-billed subscriptions,” the company said in its Shareholder Letter.
Roku has maintained its device leadership as the the #1 selling TV OS in the United States, Canada, and Mexico. 2024 was also the first full year of Roku-branded TV sales, which sold more than 1 million units.
In the United Kingdom, Roku expanded the number of Roku TV partners as well as our distribution across all major UK retail channels.
Globally, Roku ended 2024 with 89.8 million Streaming Households, and reached 90 million in the first week of January 2025. Q4 2024 net adds were 4.3 million, and full year 2024 net adds were 9.8 million.
In an investor call, Roku executives said that Tarrifs introduced by Donald Trump, with reference to Chinese Electronics are not expected to have a material effect on the company’s platform business.
