Beirut Airport to launch new WiFi7 technology

In a post shared to X, Ogero Chairman Imad Kreideh announced that the Beirut Rafic Hariri International Airport will be equipped with Wifi7 technology. Here’s what this means for travelers.

The screenshot shared to X shows an internet speed test using Speedtest by Ookla. It shows download speed, upload speed, and ping using the new cutting-edge Wifi7 technology.

Download Speed (958.77 Mbps):

This indicates how fast data is being downloaded from the internet to your device. A speed of 958.77 Mbps (megabits per second) is extremely fast, suitable for activities like streaming 4K videos, online gaming, or downloading large files without delays.

Upload Speed (1020.87 Mbps):
This shows how fast data is being uploaded from your device to the internet. A speed of 1020.87 Mbps is also exceptionally high, perfect for tasks like video conferencing, uploading large files, or live streaming in high quality.

Ping (6 ms):
The ping measures the latency or the time it takes for a small data packet to travel to a server and back. A ping of 6 milliseconds is very low, meaning the connection is highly responsive. This is ideal for real-time applications like online gaming or video calls.
