Jordan’s mobile phone imports see 13.7% increase in 2024

Jordan’s mobile phone imports in 2024 reached JD176 million for a total of 1.855 million devices, showing a 13.7% increase in value compared to 2023, according to Ahmad Alloush, President of the Association of Mobiles and Accessories Investors. The data was shared in a statement on Saturday, cited by Al Mamlaka TV.

Alloush noted that imports in the first 11 months of 2024 amounted to JD165 million for 1.72 million devices, while December alone saw imports valued at JD11 million, comprising 135,000 devices. The rise in imports also saw a 7.5% increase in the number of devices compared to 2023, when 1.726 million devices were imported.

The increase in 2024 contrasts with a consistent decline in mobile phone imports in Jordan over the past several years. The value of imports dropped from JD221.3 million in 2020 to JD205.3 million in 2021, marking a 7.2% decrease. In 2022, imports continued to fall, reaching JD175 million, a 14.7% decrease compared to the previous year. The trend persisted in 2023, with imports totaling JD154.6 million, a 12.2% drop, and the number of devices decreasing to 1.726 million.

Alloush highlighted that the growth seen in 2024 signals a positive shift in the mobile phone market, driven by increased demand and improved values and quantities of imports after several years of decline.
