MTS to expand LTE network

MTS is putting 200 domestic LTE base stations into trial operation on its existing network in 37 regions of Russia. This is stated in the company's message.

MTS will install and put into pilot commercial operation most of the 200 LTE 800 and LTE 1800 base stations by the end of the year. They will operate in 37 regions — from the Far East, the Far North and Siberia to the European part and the south of Russia. During 2025, the company will connect another 1,000 such base stations, including in the 2100 MHz and 2600 MHz bands in places with a denser concentration of users.

The equipment was created and manufactured by the Russian company Irteya. The architecture of the base stations is based on the concept of open standards Open RAN and the clustering of the radio subsystem, when part of the functionality of the base station is processed in data centers. MTS plans to start mass shipments of equipment to all operators starting in 2026.

Irteya is a Russian telecom vendor of IRTEYA, 50% of the shares of this company belong to MTS PJSC.

PJSC Mobile TeleSystems (MTS, TIN 7740000076), together with its subsidiaries, serves about 100 million cellular subscribers. The authorized capital of MTS is 199.84 million rubles (1998381575 outstanding ordinary registered shares).

MTS' profit for 2023 increased by 67.5% to 54.6 billion rubles from 32.6 billion rubles a year earlier. Revenue increased by 13.5% to 606 billion rubles from 534.1 billion rubles, adjusted OIBDA increased by 6.4% to 234.2 billion rubles from 220.1 billion rubles.
